Poor Credit
A low credit score
can have a profound impact on your life; namely, on your
purchasing power as low scores generally represent
financially unstable individuals, in the eyes of
potential lenders and creditors that is. Individuals
with poor credit ratings tend to find difficulty being
approved for loans and purchases requiring payment on
credit (like credit cards, automobiles, housing, etc.).A high tally on your credit
report likes in the range above 680 or thereabouts where
the higher the score, the more ideal the individual is
regarded for a loan approval and the more credit-worthy
you are deemed. A high score indicates to a potential
lender that the individual will be able to manage debt
repayments well. Poor credit scores on the other
hand are indicative of individuals who generally have
trouble paying their debts or have a tendency to make
their payments late. This will pose a "high risk" to
lending institutes that will then try to counter this
risk by charging higher interest rates.
A poor credit score will
impact various aspects of your life, typically on your
application for a mortgage, credit cards, insurance
premiums and job positions. A low score can result in
you paying up to a couple of percent more on your
interest rate compared to someone with an ideal score.
If your score isn't too low but not too high either, you
may be requested to provide additional documentation
with your application. In this instance, a low tally
will cost you a hefty bundle in the long run.
With an application for a
car loan, the same generally applies where people with
low scores might be asked to pay thousands more in
interest on their automobile loan. Insurance companies
also tend to apply the same policy as they would argue
that people who have a bad credit history are more
likely to make claims compared to those who have a
fairly consistent history.
More and more employers are
looking at credit reports as an indication of a person's
character. In such cases a bad score will certainly work
against you in being offered a good job. Other instances
where a poor credit score can affect your life and
lifestyle, occur when you apply for certain mobile phone
agreements, sign up for utility services or are looking
for a place to rent. With such a widespread impact, it
is best to manage your credit rating and keep it in
check at all times.
